Teeth Whitening.

A simple way to brighten your smile.

Wanting an easy and cost effective way to refresh your smile. Teeth whitening is an excellent option.

What is involved in teeth whitening?

We have two types of teeth whitening at Wanaka Dental

1) In-Clinic Teeth Whitening

Want to see instant results? In-clinic whitening may be for you.

Before we whiten your teeth, we recommend a professional cleaning with the dental hygienist. This will remove all traces of plaque and calculus, providing a clean surface to work with and the best opportunity for excellent results. Using a sensitive toothpaste or GC Tooth Mousse two weeks prior to your whitening appointment is also recommended for reducing post treatment sensitivity.

On the big day, we’ll take a before picture, which will help us compare the results and measure your level of whitening. We’ll protect your lips and gums and then apply the whitening gel to your teeth. A special type of light activates the whitening gel, and the process begins. At this point, you can just kick back and relax.

After about an hour, you’ll be done! We’ll remove the gel and take an after photo. You can expect to see improvement in one clinic visit. As upkeep is needed to maintain your desired shade we can also make you custom trays to follow up at home.

2) Custom At-Home Teeth Whitening

If you prefer to whiten your teeth at your convenience, your Dental Hygienist can provide you with a custom at-home whitening kit. Your applicator trays will be made just for you, and the strength of the whitening gel will be chosen to meet your needs. You will be given specific instructions for how to use it safely and to avoid side effects.

After this kind of whitening treatment, you will typically be asked to schedule a follow-up visit with our office to check on your progress.
